Overview

Introduction and Program Kick-Off

In this foundational module, we provide an overview of the program’s objectives and emphasize the importance of fostering a veteran-friendly culture. With leadership commitment and engagement, we highlight the significance of addressing the alarming turnover rate among veterans in their first year of employment.

1: The Veteran Journey

Module 1 focuses on camaraderie, battle buddies, and shipmates, while Module 2 delves into identity and purpose, essential aspects of the veteran experience.

2: Veteran Baggage and Understanding the Institution

Here, we explore the unique challenges faced by veterans during their transition to civilian life. Modules 3 through 5 cover topics such as Department of Defense culture, transition challenges, basic training, and time management.

3: Veteran Challenges

Here, we cover unique challenges veterans experience during transition and some of the ways employers can recognize and help them through transition.

4: Veteran Perception of Civilians

This module bridges the gap between military and civilian cultures, focusing on areas such as time management, resource use, fear of failure, and mission accomplishment.

5: Veteran Culture and Their Needs

In this module, we delve into workplace dynamics, exploring topics like words versus actions, understanding why veterans leave organizations, and fostering a feedback-friendly culture.

6: Why Veterans Leave

Here, we cover some of the primary reasons veterans leave their places of work and explore cultural needs to help them not only stay but become high-performing members of your organization.

7: Building and Sustaining

Finally, we provide practical strategies for building and sustaining a veteran-ready organization, including establishing a 12-month commitment to cultural change, engaging external expertise, developing veteran-specific HR policies, and continuous improvement processes.
